Duranord & Jeanne Veillard (82 years of marriage)
This past February, New York couple Duranord (108) and Jeanne (105) Veillard made national headlines when they celebrated 82 years of marriage.
The couple met in Haiti, and love soon brought these two together in November of 1932. Duranord [husband] worked in the court system as a judge and lawyer. His career brought him to the United States in 1967 and his wife later followed in 1979.
The couple gave birth to five children, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
The couple is generally in good health. Mr. Veillard has hearing and sight problems, but that doesn’t stop him from participating in his daily chair exercises. At 5AM, he does five to seven pushups! Then he and his wife enjoy breakfast which includes oatmeal, fruit and tea. For their remaining meals, the couple eats fish and fresh vegetables. Mr. Veillard is also very alert; he remembers specific dates such as the day he and Jeanne were married. Mrs. Veillard is described as being “quiet and laid back”.
The celebration of their marriage has produced thousands of likes and comments online. It’s wonderful to see love literally lasting a lifetime. Grown Folks Enlightened wishes you 82 more years of joy and togetherness.
